Churchill Conservation Area

In December 1985 Thomas G. and Celeste Churchill granted the Trust 5.05 acres of land off Beechwood Street that was once called Jet Meadow. After the dam was built to retain water in Lily Pond, the meadow flooded and is now largely under water forming a wetland through which Bound Brook runs. The wetlands provide habitat for birds, waterfowl, fish and other wildlife.

This property creates a connection between our Andrus Island and Wheelwright Highland properties, and also abuts Town-owned land. Together, these parcels protect a continuous stretch of upland and wetlands in the area between Beechwood Street and Lily Pond.

Kayakers & canoers enjoy the birdlife sequestered in dense brush along the brookside.
